Ko wai tatou?

Who are we?

Ngātahi, is a term used to describe the unity of people working towards a specific goal or the implementation of a task.

For generations past and those to come, we Connect, Protect & Restore, with one common goal:

to share matauranga,
to hold space for healing to happen and
to assist in the transformation of people’s lives through Rongoā Māori.

“My name is Awhina Motutere. My direct decent lines connect me to my tūpuna, whānau, moana and whenua.

I am from everywhere and it has been so since I was born.”

In the western world, I am a Medical Herbalist and a Naturopath. In Te Ao Māori, I am a Rongoā practitioner and a Mirimiri / Romiromi practitioner.

My Koro introduced me to Te Ao Rongoā and my father gave me my love of the natural world. He taught me about the importance of connection to the world around me.

Rongoā is a way of life as it is the embodiment of all that is. It is not just about trees and plants, it is a journey to self. It is an ever evolving road with many bumps and collisions. It is a self reflective journey of personal transformation.

Without “labels,” I am simply a lover of Papatuanuku, Te Wao Nui a Tane and my people.

Guiding Values

Manaakitanga

In Māori, this is called ‘Manaakitanga’. We aim to foster healthy relationships with ourselves, you and the environment. As your host, guide or practitioner this is our promise.

Kaitiakitanga

Our home is a taonga (precious), and everyone who lives and travels here has a responsibility to look after it.

Take care of our home, our taonga so that future generations can be in awe of her beauty and her people just as we do.

Sustainability

With every action there is a reaction. We deliver on our promise of sustainability through the way we live and practice. We are an off-grid, ‘locally sourced’ / ‘small batch’ company.
