Wānanga | Workshops
Tauranga Wānanga | Full Day | October 9th, November 13th & December 11th
A journey of self-discovery through connection to ourselves and the natural world around us.
Koanga (spring) is a time for renewal, growth and expansion.
This series of workshops is delivered to you in the second month of koanga (spring). This is a time for renewal growth and expansion. We and the ngahere (bush) have rested over takurua (winter) and now is the time to start to prepare for the seven phases of raumati (summer). Each phase brings gifts from Te waonui a Tane. The berries ripen and flowers bloom and the rakau appear to have a glow.
Koanga will see us detox from the winter months, wairua, hinengaro, tinana (sppirit, mind and body) shedding the layers of that which no longer serves us making space for new growth and expansion.
This wananga will be both foundational and practical. It will give you insights to your own personal health and wellbeing through the art and practice of Rongoā.
Over the day you will be introduced to but not limited to:
Te whakapapa tuatahi o nga rakau and our guiding foundations within our space for safe and best practice. We will also explore the use of one of our tuakana in your own healing journey with some relaxation and detoxification techniques taught as a practical component.
This wananga is open to everyone, no previous knowledge required. I invite you to come and share space with myself and my amazing kaiawhina. Open hearts and open minds. We are in the business of transformation, supporting and teaching you some of the tools for your own healing journey.
Please note: A one day wananga does not mean you are a qualified practitioner and can go out and start working on people. My first responsibility is that you understand this. The second is for myself and my team to hold you in a safe learning environment.
Who is your facilitator: Awhina Motutere – these wananga are unique courses based on NZ natives, indigenous practices, traditional knowledge and Awhina’s lifetime of experience in the field. A qualified medical Herbalist and Naturopath, indigenous teachings remain the core aspect of her approach.
